GRANADA HILLS, Calif. — A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the death of up-and-coming Los Angeles rapper Kid Cali at a pool party last month, police said.
Police charged the teen with first-degree murder after taking him into custody Saturday night, according to PIX11 affiliate KTLA. Authorities say they believe the shooting of 30-year-old Justin Lishey, aka Kid Cali, was gang-related.
The bail for 19-year-old Kenny Birdine has been set at just over $3 million, according to Los Angeles inmate records. Birdine, an Inglewood resident, had not posted bail and was still in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
Lishey was killed August 9 in Granada Hills at a pool party at a multimillion-dollar home, which had attracted more than 100 people, KTLA reported. Two other men were injured in the shooting, police said.
