Person fatally struck by 1-train on Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan — A person was fatally struck by a 1-train Thursday morning, officials said.

The person was hit by a northbound train around 6:40 a.m. at the 72nd Street Station, police said. No identifying information has been released, but police say the individual jumped in front of the train

Commuters should expect delays in service. Service -which had been suspended from 34th Street-Penn Station to 97th Street – resumed with extensive delays around 8:30 a.m.
