Severe Thunderstorm Warning expires for tri-state area

NEW YORK — The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the tri-state area Wednesday evening as heavy rain moved into the region.

The warning impacted the five boroughs, Nassau County, northern New Jersey as well as the Lower Hudson Valley.

The NWS detected the storm around 5:30 p.m., over SoHo moving southeast at 30 mph.

The warning expired at 6:30 p.m.

No power outages or damages were reported.
