THE BRONX – Police said a couple was beaten up by two men inside a Bronx subway station after a man confronted them for saying "rude comments" to his girlfriend.
It happened inside of the Grand Concourse No. 4 subway station around 5:50 a.m. on September 5.
The NYPD said two men were harassing the 28-year-old woman when her 21-year-old boyfriend intervened. Once he got involved, one of the men placed him in a headlock and punched him numerous times in the face in the head and body, police said.
When his girlfriend tried to stop them, she was punched in the face and knocked to the ground by one of the men, according to police. She was rendered unconscious and sustained lacerations to her face, police said.
The male victim also suffered fractures to his face, police said.
Both were treated at a local hospital.
Police said the first attacker appears to be between 18 to 25 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black and gray T-shirt with the word "ninety" and the number "3" on it, white jeans and black sneakers.
The other individual appears to be around the same age and similar height. He was last seen with a black T-shirt and dark-colored pants.
Surveillance video released by police captured parts of the beating.
