NEW YORK — The first set of new R179 subway cars arrived in New York City this week.

Dozens of trains will be making their way to New York City by flatbed trucks, taking a 300-mile ride from the Bombardier Plant in Upstate New York.

The first set arrived and traveled over the George Washington Bridge to the 207th Street Yard Thursday.

The cars' final assembly point is in Plattsburgh, New York.

The R179 model cars will be tested over the next few months and eventually be assigned to the A, C, J, Z and M lines.
