WESTBURY, N.Y. — Police say three people have been charged for their roles in the beating and attempted kidnapping of a Long Island man.

A 22-year-old Queens woman and two accomplices forced their way into a Westbury home Sunday night carrying zip ties and hit the victim in the head with a pellet gun and an ax handle, police told Newsday.

Police say the woman then sped off in the victim’s sport utility vehicle, nearly running over two responding detectives, who jumped out of the way before pursuing her.

Authorities say she later crashed into a parked car.

Police say a 33-year-old Bronx woman and a 29-year-old homeless man fled the victim’s house and were apprehended at a nearby motel.

The victim has been treated for head and face injuries.
