WADING RIVER, N.Y. — The Coast Guard called off the search for two missing people in the Long Island Sound after two bodies washed ashore Sunday morning.

Coast Guard officials received a report at 3:30 p.m. Saturday of three men who slipped into the water while fishing in Wading River on the North Shore of Long Island.

One of the men was able to grab a rock and pull himself onto the shore, but the other two are missing.

Suffolk County police said a man walking his dog in Shoreham found the body washed up on the beach around 6 a.m. Sunday, a short distance away from where the missing men had gone into the water.

The second body was found when police arrived at the scene.

The two men have been identified as Luis Lala, 20, and Juan Loja, 18, of Brentwood.
