Police are searching for a man who broke into a Mineola grocery store. (Google Maps)

MINEOLA, N.Y. —Nassau County police are searching for a man they say broke into a Mineola supermarket and robbed two employees Sunday morning.

The suspect entered through a skylight in the roof of Western Beef on Second Street in Mineola around 5 a.m.

Once in the building, police say the suspect tried entering the store’s office but was unsuccessful.

Police say the suspect, armed with a hammer and silver handgun, approached two employees who had just arrived for their shifts.

The suspect took cash and cell phones from the victims.

No injuries were reported.
