CHICAGO — A woman identified as the cousin of Chicago Bulls player Dwyane Wade was fatally shot while pushing a baby in a stroller on the city’s South Side Friday.

Authorities say the 32-year-old victim was killed when two males walked up and fired shots at a third man about 3:30 p.m. Friday. Police say the woman was not the intended target.

According to WGN, family members identify the victim as Nykea Aldridge, the mother of four children, and the first cousin of Chicago Bulls Dwyane Wade.

Family spokesman Pastor Edward Jones says Aldridge was walking to register her children for school. He says the family recently moved to the neighborhood.

Chicago Bulls Dwyane Wade tweeted Friday night saying:

Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office say she suffered gunshot wounds to her head and an arm.

Police say the baby wasn’t hurt, and a relative has taken custody of the child.

Police say one of the males who fired shots was being questioned Friday evening.
