Uber announces self-driving vehicle project

You can leave the driving to someone or something else of you don't want to get behind the wheel.

Uber has announced a partnership with Volvo and its acquisition of a trucking company that uses self-driving delivery vehicles.

The project will begin in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Pittsburgh.

"In order to provide digital services in the physical world, we must build sophisticated logistics, artificial intelligence and robotics systems that serve and elevate humanity," Uber CEO Travis Kalanick wrote in a statement posted on the company blog.

Volvo has a test model self-driving car. There are no current plans to use them in New York City.
