Suspect arrested for raping woman at knifepoint in Queens, police say

George Cacavas, 42, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman at knifepoint in his Jamaica Estates home on Aug. 13.

JAMAICA ESTATES, Queens — A Queens man has been charged with raping a woman at knifepoint in his bedroom on Aug. 13, police said.

George Cacavas, 42, allegedly raped a woman in his Jamaica Estates home for an hour early Saturday after forcing her into his bedroom, officials said. He held a knife to her neck, threatened to kill her, slapped her chest and face, grabbed her by the neck and repeatedly raped her.

She managed to run away and was found by EMS in Flushing, police said. She was taken to Queens General Hospital.

Cacavas was arraigned Sunday and charged with rape, criminal sexual acts, sexual abuse and criminal possession of a weapon, according to court documents. His bail was set at $250,000 and he is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 26.
