WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — A Brooklyn resident who is in a wheelchair says she hasn't been able to use the public pool in her neighborhood for months, and during this heat wave, having access to that pool is more needed than ever.

Cathy Sanderson said it's been three months since the lift at the Metropolitan Pool on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg has worked. The mechanism places a person from their wheelchair into the water.

Sanderson notified management and called 311 several times. Then she called PIX11.

"I'm doing this not just for me but for all the disabled people in my neighborhood," Sanderson said.

PIX11 News reached out to the Parks Department. They promise they are working with the vendor to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

PIX11 News will make sure the necessary repairs are done so Sanderson can use the pool.
