FINANCIAL DISTRICT, Manhattan — The massive retail complex at the World Trade Center is set to have its grand opening Tuesday at noon.
Westfield, the developer, is holding a Family Day celebration with free hourly performances from groups including the cast of School of Rock and the Harlem Gospel Choir to celebrate the launch of more than 100 stores in the 365,000-square-foot shopping complex
"The World Trade Center is a symbol of hope, opportunity, progress, and perseverance," said Westfield Chief Operating Officer William Hecht. "Westfield is profoundly proud to be a part of this project and to introduce new experiences and energy to Lower Manhattan."
The massive WTC retail space will take up space in Oculus, the $3.9 billion centerpiece of WTC designed to look like a bird in flight, and nos. 3 and 4 World Trade Center. An additional 90,000 square feet of retail space will open in 2 World Trade Center when that tower opens.
Retailers at the shopping hub include big names like Apple, Bose, Hugo Boss, H&M, Kate Spade, John Varvatos, Sephora, Kiehl's, MAC, Cole Haan, Aldo and Disney.
