Man groped 8-year-old girl climbing subway stairs behind mother, told her he was ‘sorry’: NYPD

MOTT HAVEN, Bronx – Police are looking for man accused of groping an 8-year-old’s buttocks as she went up the subway stairs with her mother.

It happened inside the 149th St. Station between the No. 2 and  No. 4 platform on August 2, at about 7 p.m.

The child was walking behind her 39-year-old mother when the stranger forcibly squeezed her buttocks, saying he was “sorry” to the victim afterwards, according to the NYPD. The culprit ran back toward a southbound No. 4  train and fled, police said.

The suspect is described to be about 30 years old, around 5 feet 7 inches tall, with straight black hair and a light goatee and beard, police said. He was last seen wearing glasses, a blue Yankee T-shirt and black jeans.

Police released a sketch based on the victim’s description.
