BELLPORT, Long Island — An argument at a family party sparked a deadly shooting on Long Island that left a man dead and his two sons critically hurt, police said.

The victims were identified Monday morning as Irvin Noak III, 30, and Aaron Noak, 22, by the Suffolk County Police Department. Their father, Irvin Noak, is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was a retired NYPD detective, police in Suffolk County said.

It was shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday when Irvin Noak, 61, allegedly fought with family members during a party at his home on Fox Glove Circle in Bellport, police said.

His two adult sons, who live at the house with Noak, tried to break up the fight and that's when Noak went into his bedroom, grabbed a handgun and shot his two sons, police said. He then fatally shot himself.

Both sons were taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition, police said. No one else at the party was hurt.
