Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of New Jersey

NEW JERSEY — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of New Jersey Thursday amid dangerously hot temperatures and sweltering humidity, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning is set to last until 5 p.m. and applies to Mercer, Hunterdon, Somerset and Middlesex counties.

Quarter-sized hail and lightning are associated with this storm, the agency said.
