Police search for arsonist targeting Upper East Side businesses

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — Police are searching for a man allegedly setting Upper East Side businesses on fire.

The arsonist first set fire to the front of La Mode Organic Cleaners on 82nd Street near East End Avenue just after 2:20 a.m. on July 26, police said. The property was damaged, but no one was injured.

The suspect struck again at Gentlemen’s Resale, a consignment shop on 81st Street near 2nd Avenue, just after 4:20 a.m. on Aug. 3, police said. The property was damaged, but no one was injured.

Police are asking for assistance identifiying the suspect.
