Students will be heading back to school in a few weeks and with the help of Kmart PIX11 News is giving new backpacks to kids in need.

The Westside YMCA reached out to PIX11 and asked if we could help in their Build a Backback Program, which gives new bags and supplies to students who need them.

PIX11 News reached out to Kmart, and they offered to donate 80 new book bags to the program.

"We did not expect that. We are so grateful," said Lucria Ortiz, from the Westside YMCA.

The kids are to receive their new bags Friday.

Right now, customers can get backpacks for as low as $7.79 and basic supplies starting as low as 25 cents. This week, all backpacks at Kmart are 40 percent off.
