BOHEMIA, N.Y. — A man was seriously injured after he jumped from a moving car that was traveling on the Sunrise Highway in Bohemia Sunday afternoon.

Christopher Ryan, 34, was in the passenger seat of his girlfriend Alexandria Marston’s car as she was driving west on the Sunrise Highway around 2 p.m. Sunday.

As Marston drove, Ryan jumped out of the car between exits 50 and 49 for unknown reasons, police said.

Marston then stopped the car a short distance away.

A car that was driving behind Marston witnessed the incident and stopped to help shield Ryan from sustaining further injuries, according to police.

Ryan was taken to the hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Marston and Ryan’s 9-year-old son who was also in the car were not injured.
