UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — Police were looking Friday for two women who yelled racist remarks at a woman on a subway train before punching her in the head, officials said.

A 29-year-old Asian woman told police she was on a northbound 1 train with her parents, who are both in their 60s, when two women boarded the train car at the 86th Street station on the Upper West Side on Sunday around 7:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

One of the women — who were both donning colorful leis — then leaned toward the victim and shouted profanities and anti-Asian statements at her, police said.

They proceeded to yank the 29-year-old to the floor and punch her in the head before fleeing the subway at the Cathedral Parkway station, officials said.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident as a possible bias assault.

The victim was treated at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital for a concussion, and bruising and swelling to her head and torso. She was later released.

Police have released surveillance video and photographs of the woman which shows them walking past 545 West 11th St. following the attack.

The women were last seen wearing black tank tops, dark pants and multi-colored leis, police said.
