PHILADELPHIA — The spotlight is on Hillary Clinton as she takes the stage on the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

Clinton will address the convention as the first woman to accept a major party’s nomination for President of the United States.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo took the stage and began his speech talking about his father, former New York governor who gave the keynote speech in 1984.

Cuomo attacked the Republican party and Donald Trump’s campaign, accusing them of using fear to “excite and motivate people to yell and scream” and moving backward instead of forward.

Cuomo said the “very soul of America” is at stake in this year’s presidential contest between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“Republicans say they want to make America great again, to take us back to the good old days. What good old days do they want to take us back to? Before the Civil Rights Act? Before minimum wage and worker protection laws? Before Roe v. Wade?” Cuomo said.

Cuomo echoed the speakers of the past nights and talked about his experience working in the Clinton Administration.

“I’ve seen her in the trenches and in the good days and bad. She stood on the world stage and declared that human rights were women’s rights,” Cuomo said.

“She will unify, not divide this nation and move us forward together. That’s why we must make Hillary Clinton the next President of the United States!” he said

Pop singer Katy Perry performed before Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, introduced her mother on stage. The speech comes a week after her friend, Ivanka Trump, introduced her father at the Republican National Convention to much fanfare.

Chelsea Clinton described her mother as a grandmother who will drop everything to FaceTime her 2-year-old granddaughter Charlotte — even if she’s about to walk on stage for a debate or campaign speech.

The former first daughter said she’s had a “front-row seat” to watch how Hillary Clinton serves. She described her mother as a diligent public servant who looks for solutions and dives into policy.

Chelsea Clinton tells the Democratic convention that she’s seen her mom surrounded by “stack of memos and reports” to review policy. And she’s seen her promise struggling mothers she’d do all she could to help them.

“She always believes we can do better, if we come together,” Clinton said.

After a video illustrating Clinton’s work and achievement, Chelsea Clinton introduced Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton thanked President Barack Obama and said she’s a better person because of Obama’s friendship, praised Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and her running mate, Tim Kaine.

Clinton was quick to appease Bernie Sanders supporters, saying she’s heard the views of Bernie Sanders’ steadfast supporters and says their cause is her cause.

“And so it is with humility, determination and boundless confidence in America’s promise… that I accept your nomination for President of the United States!” Clinton said, becoming the first woman in U.S. history to accept a major party’s presidential nomination.
