Limited LIRR service restored on Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma branches after car fire

WESTBURY, N.Y. – The MTA says limited service has been restored in both directions on the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson branches, but warn there could still be delays and some cancellations.

Service was disrupted earlier after a car fire that damaged one of two tracks near Urban Avenue near Westbury.

Customers are advised to utilize alternate branches, such as the Montauk, or Babylon branches.

There are also delays in both directions after a person was struck by a train at Lynbrook station Wednesday morning, MTA officials said. The person is in serious condition at South Nassau Communities Hospital.
