Police spent hours searching the water off East New York after reports that a man fell into a creek.

EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn — NYPD and FDNY diver units swept the waters off East New York for hours after midnight Tuesday following reports that a man fell into a creek.

Someone called police just after 12:30 a.m. to report that his friend had fallen into Fresh Creek Basin under the Belt Parkway, officials said. Whoever called it in left the scene before police arrived.

The man was out fishing with a friend and may have been drunk when he fell in, The New York Post reported.

Rescue divers searched until about 2:15 a.m., but weren’t able to find anyone, fire officials said.
