PHILADELPHIA — One moving moment of Monday evening the Democratic National Convention was the appearance of 11-year-old Karla Ortiz, whose mother is undocumented.

She put a human touch on both presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the immigration issue, serving as a reminder that an estimated 38 percent of undocumented adults in the U.S. have American-born children.

Ortiz brought home the reality of the threat of deportation as seen though a child's eyes.

"(Clinton) wants me to have  the worries of an 11-year-old," Ortiz said. "Not the weight of the world on my shoulders."
