17 injured after ferry strikes Jersey City dock

JERSEY CITY, N.J. —  Seventeen people were injured after a ferry struck a Jersey City dock Saturday evening.

Jersey City officials say the NY Waterway ferry made a hard landing at Pier 30 on Hudson Street around 7:15 p.m.

Officials say 17 passengers were injured but the injuries appear to be minor.

Five people were transported to Christ Hospital. The remaining 12 people were taken to Jersey City Medical Center.

It was not immediately clear what caused the ferry to crash.

The U.S. Coast Guard is handling the investigation.
