FLUSHING, Queens — A 24-year-old Flushing man sexually abused and robbed a 12-year-old girl at a neighborhood park on Wednesday, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Soloman Hudgins was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents.

“No person, young or old, male or female, should have to worry about fending off a sexual attack on the streets of our city at any time of the day or night,” DA Brown said in a statement.

Hudgins allegedly jumped the girl from behind and pulled her to the ground at the Bowne playground early Wednesday morning, prosecutors said. She tried to push him away and yell for help as he opened her shorts and sexually abused her.

When the girl tried to use her iPhone to call for help, Hudgins pulled off her shoes and grabbed her iPhone and earbuds, prosecutors said. He also allegedly took two packs of cigarettes and a lighter before running off, dropping his wallet in the process.

The girl picked up the wallet and brought it to police, prosecutors said. The wallet allegedly contained identification documents for Hudgins.

“The offenses of which the defendant has been charged are crimes of violence that pose a serious threat to public safety and which warrant vigorous prosecution,” Brown said.

Hudgins faces seven years in prison if he is convicted.
