Flames engulf multiple buildings in College Point, Queens

COLLEGE POINT, Queens — Firefighters have extinguished a fire that began at a three-story building  Thursday night.

The FDNY received a call about the fire at a three-story building on College Point Boulevard at 9:45 p.m. It quickly escalated to four-alarms as the flames spread to neighboring buildings. It was declared under control a few hours later.

Heavy smoke can be seen billowing into the sky.

Nine firefighters and one civilian suffered minor injuries, FDNY said. They were taken to area hospitals.
