Crash investigation partially closes eastbound Long Island Expressway; delays up to 60 minutes

NORTH HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The eastbound Long Island Expressway has been partially closed due to a crash early Thursday, prompting extensive delays in the area.

Lanes heading east between Exit 39 (Glen Gove Road) and Exit 40 (Route 25/Jericho Turnpike) have been shut off because of an investigation into a collision involving a pedestrian.

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m.

The details of the investigation are still unknown.

Trucks are being diverted to the L.I.E. service road and cars are heading to the Northern State Parkway.
