DALLAS, Texas — Funerals will be held Wednesday for two of the five Dallas police officers killed last week during a rally against police violence by a sniper bent on murdering law enforcement.
DART Officer Brent Thompson will be laid to red at The Potter’s House in Dallas at an 11 a.m. service, while Senior Cpl. Lorne Ahrens’ funeral is scheduled to begin at noon at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
Thompson, 43, a nearly seven-year veteran of the transit force, got married in the last two weeks, Spiller said. His spouse was a fellow transit officer
“He was in great spirits from his recent marriage,” Spiller said.
Ahrens was a 14-year veteran of the force, according to media reports. He was 48.
He was devoted to his kids and proudly wore his uniform to their elementary school, where he’d become popular as a regular volunteer giving personal safety talks. He leaves behind his wife, who is a detective with Dallas Police, and their two children.
