MIDTOWN, Manhattan -- A car burst into flames on a midtown street Tuesday afternoon.

The flames ripped through the vehicle just after 2 p.m. on East 42nd Street in front of the Pfizer building. The fire then spread to a second car parked nearby.

No one was inside the vehicle and no one was injured, police say.

The fire was under control as of 2:45 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
