EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn — Police shot and killed a dog that belonged to a professional dancer currently touring with Madonna Tuesday in Brooklyn.

The shooting happened at 350 Montauk Ave., in the East New York section of the borough around 5:18 p.m.

Police were serving a warrant to a man wanted in an open complaint.

The suspect then unleashed the dog onto police.  The dog bit one officer on the arm before the other officer shot it twice.

The dog, named Stonnie, belonged to the friend of one of the residents in the home.

The officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital for an arm injury.

Friends of the dancer, Stanley "Sheik" Mondesir say the dancer is devastated to learn that his dog was killed.

Mondesir is currently in Los Angeles wrapping up a tour with Madonna.
