5-year-old with autism injured after falling from Bronx apartment window

CROTONA PARK EAST, The Bronx — A 5-year-old with autism was critically injured Tuesday evening after falling from the window of an apartment building in the Bronx.

Emergency officials responded to a call at 7:38 p.m. for a child out of a window at 1415 Bristow St. in the Crotona Park East section of the borough.

Police sources say the child fell five stories.

The child, who was unconscious, was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition.

Sources say the the mother told police that the window had a guard on it but the top part of the window was open.

The mother had just put the child to bed.

There is a heavy police presence in the area.
