Driver dies when BMW smashes into house in the Bronx

THE BRONX — A driver died early Sunday when his BMW crashed through a metal fence and slammed into a home in the Bronx, police said.

The deceased, who has not been identified, crashed shortly after 6 a.m. at 784 South Oak Drive, police said. His was the only car involved.

Officers responding to a 911 call about a crash at that location arrived to find the driver with severe trauma about his body, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was in the BMW at the time of the crash and no other injuries were reported, NYPD said.

An investigation is underway into what caused the fatal wreck.
