THE BRONX — Police have arrested a 19-year-old Bronx resident for allegedly following a woman into her building’s elevator and trying to rape her.

Shykeim Terry was charged after surveillance video showed him pursuing and groping a 33-year-old woman, who lives near East 162nd Street and Sheraton Avenue, NYPD officials said. The attack happened around 10:15 p.m. on June 8.

Police say Terry followed the woman into the elevator and engaged her in conversation, and continued to pursue her when she left the elevator to go to her apartment. Terry then apparently approached the woman from behind with his pants down and grabbed her buttocks, trying to pull her away from the door, officials said. He ran from the building when another person came to the door.

Terry is charged with attempted rape, sex abuse, forcible touching and criminal trespassing, police said.
