NEW YORK — Long Island Rail Road riders experienced extensive delays and cancellations during the Tuesday evening rush hour due to signal trouble at Penn Station, MTA transit officials said.

At around 5 p.m., all westbound service to Penn Station was suspended but was restored a few hours later. As of 8 p.m. all service had been restored but some branches still had residual delays.
