BROOKLYN – Police are hunting for a man who slashed a 25-year-old woman's neck and nearly raped her before she successfully ran away.
The NYPD said at around 5 a.m. Sunday a man approached the victim from behind in the vicinity of Wyckoff Avenue and Starr Street in Brooklyn, where he then placed an unknown sharp object to her throat and told her to bend over. The victim yelled for help and after a brief struggle she broke away from him, but not before he cut her neck, police said. The victim eventually found shelter inside a nearby store.
Police said she suffered a 4-inch cut to her neck and was taken to Wyckoff Hospital in stable condition.
The suspect is described to be between 20 to 30 years old, around 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black and red baseball cap, a black long sleeve shirt and dark-colored pants.
