2 injured after stolen yellow cab crashes into SUV in Lower Manhattan

LOWER MANHATTAN — Two people were injured after a man stole a yellow cab and crashed it into a SUV in Lower Manhattan Sunday morning.

A cab driver picked up a man at Grand and Allen streets at 7:45 a.m. After driving a couple blocks, the man got out and told the driver he had a flat tire, police said. The driver left the vehicle to check his car and the man jumped into the driver's seat and drove away, police said.

The man then crashed the stolen yellow cab into a SUV between Chamber and West streets around 8:15 a.m.

Two people in the SUV were taken to the hospital, according to the FDNY.

The man in the stolen yellow cab was taken into custody, according to police.
