Queens man arrested for fatally shooting man: NYPD

NORTH CORONA, Queens — An arrest has been made after a man was found fatally shot in North Corona, Queens over the weekend, police announced Tuesday.

Christian Penaloza, 29, of Queens, is expected to be charged with criminally negligent homicide, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Rufino Perez Villa, a 24-year-old resident of nearby Corona.

Police responded to a 911 call about a man stabbed around 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the area of 45th and National streets. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound in his chest.

He was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital and died Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and the identity of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
