Man shoots himself inside Zabar’s on Upper West Side: cops

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan — A man shot himself inside Zabar's on the Upper West Side Tuesday morning, police said.

Leston Anderson, 49, who is homeless, walked into the high-end grocery store at 2245 Broadway around 9:35 a.m. and shot himself, police said. He then fled the store.

Anderson later told police he found the gun and it went off in the store.

He tossed the gun in the vicinity of W. 79th Street and Riverside Drive.

We was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
