LOWER MANHATTAN — A man who fell into the subway tracks late Friday afternoon is alive — thanks to three good Samaritans who jumped in to save him.

The terrifying incident happened at the City Hall station on the platform of the “R” train around 2:30 p.m., according to Gothamist. In a video obtained by Gothamist, three men are seen jumping on the tracks and pulling the unconscious person off.

CUNY J student Tipster Sumeja Tulic told Gothamist that the man, said to be in his late 50s to early 60s, fell on the tracks a few minutes before the “R” train was coming. The three Samaritans were able to rescue the man an get off the tracks about two minutes before the train came.

Though the heroic act saved the unconscious man, people are advised to never go down onto the tracks for any reason. They are instead advised to call a station personnel or police officer, the MTA website says.
