Hit-and-run driver sought after crash in the Bronx leaves bicyclist dead

SCHUYLERVILLE, The Bronx — Police are looking for a driver who fled the scene after fatally striking a bicyclist with his car in the Bronx Saturday.

Police received a call about a crash in the vicinity of East Tremont and Mayflower avenues around 12:40 a.m. When they arrived, they found Giovanni Nin, 26, lying on the road with severe trauma to his body.

Nin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators discovered that Nin was riding his bike down East Tremont Avenue and was attempting to cross the street when a silver BMW X5 struck him. The driver then fled the scene.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
