Wepa! Celebrating Puerto Rican culture ahead of huge NYC parade

This Sunday millions of spectators will line Fifth Avenue for the 59th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade. Since its first steps on April 13th, 1958, the event had served to create awareness and appreciation of a culture shared by more than 3.5 million inhabitants of the island and over 5 million living in the U.S.

PIX 11 highlighted what you can expect at this years parade Live from Sofrito at 679 Riverside Drive with dancers from the Esencia Project and Tanima Productions.

The Puerto Rican Day Parade takes place Sunday, June 12th at 11 a.m. along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street.
