Woman fatally struck by subway train in midtown

MIDTOWN, Manhattan — A woman was fatally struck by a subway train in midtown Monday afternoon.

It happened just before 2:30 p.m. at Lexington Avenue and 59th Street station which services the 4,5,6 trains.

Witnesses tell police the woman, who was in her 30s, jumped in front of the train.

The MTA says service has resumed with residual delays on the 4 and 5 train lines.

The identity of the victim is unknown at this time.
