Pedestrian killed after being struck by SUV in midtown

MIDTOWN, Manhattan — A woman was killed after she was struck by an SUV in midtown Monday afternoon.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Eighth Avenue and W. 38th Street.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was struck by a black SUV while in the crosswalk. The vehicle was turning onto Eighth Avenue from W. 38th Street.

The victim, Yuenei Wu, 67,  of Brooklyn was found unconscious and unresponsive by police at the scene.

Wu was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries..

Traffic has been stopped on Eighth Avenue at W. 34 St. due to the accident. Traffic must go east or west on 34th Street.

The driver remained on the scene following the crash.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
