LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — A man is wanted for posing as a cab driver and robbing a woman while threatening to shoot and sexually assault her on May 15, police said.

The woman was picked up in a black car she thought was the one she ordered in the vicinity of Mangin and East Houston streets around 1:30 a.m., according to police. While they were driving uptown on the FDR Drive, she realized the driver wasn’t heading toward her residence.

As they drove pass the 96th Street exit on the FDR Drive, the imposter demanded her to hand over money and threatened to shoot and sexually assault her, police said. The woman handed over her iPhone, wallet that had $20 in cash, a debit card and Metrocard, a jacket and a pair of gold earrings.

The woman then escaped the car when he stopped at a red light on Park Avenue.

She was not injured. The imposter fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a bearded man in his thirties with short hair and dark skin.
