NEW YORK — A rapper charged in a deadly shooting at a New York City concert hall has pleaded not guilty.
Rapper Troy Ave was arraigned Monday in the Thursday shooting during a hip-hop concert that was to feature artist T.I.
One person was killed and three others were injured, including Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins. The Daily News reports Collins was arraigned on charges including attempted murder.
After ballistics tests, the charges could be upgraded to include murder. Thirty-year-old Ronald McPhatter died in the shooting.
Prosecutors say Collins recklessly fired a gun five times in a crowded venue with no concern about the consequences.
Defense attorney Scott Leemon says McPhatter wasn't shot by Collins
Prosecutors say Collins shot himself in the leg. Leemon says someone else shot Collins.
