Woman struck by NJ Transit bus in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. — A woman was struck by a New Jersey Transit bus when she was crossing the street Saturday afternoon, police said.

The woman, who is said to be in her sixties, was crossing the street at the intersection of Mount Prospect Avenue and Heller Parkway shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to police.

The bus was turning onto Heller Parkway when it struck her.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition with severe injuries to her legs.

The investigation is ongoing.
