Police investigate death of 39-year-old man in Huntington as criminal

HUNTINGTON, Suffolk County — Suffolk County police are investigating a Bay Shore man’s death as criminal.

Police responded to a 911 call around 3:17 a.m. near Gerard Street and Clinton Avenue for a man that was unconscious and covered in blood.

When officers arrived, they found Edwin Rivera, 39, lying on the ground next to his 2015 Mercedes.

Rivera was taken to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed by members of the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
