PARK SLOPE, Brooklyn -- A 4-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after falling down an elevator shaft in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn Wednesday night, police said.

FDNY officials responded to a parking garage at 841 Union St. at 8:06 p.m.

Sources tell PIX11 News that the child got out of the car on the second floor of the garage and fell into an empty elevator shaft used for vehicles.

Officials were able to rescue the boy, who was then transported to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.

PIX11's source initially said the boy was 7 years old, but police on Thursday confirmed he is 4.
