Tips sought in death of woman found with throat slashed, sitting on Brooklyn bench

RED HOOK, Brooklyn – The NYPD is seeking assistance in the death of a 51-year-old woman who was found with a slashed throat on a bench, police said.

Police released a photograph of the victim, Sharon Whigham, in hopes someone can provide information concerning her homicide.

On May 19, officers responded to a 911 call of a past assault at 110 W. Ninth St. around 4:30 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, police found Whigham's throat sliced, sitting on a bench in front of the location, according to the NYPD. She was pronounced dead by EMS shortly after.

There are no arrests and the investigation continues.
